Title:   Introduction to Digital Photography

Course Description:

One challenge in digital photography today is to manage the rapidly developing technology and still remain creative in your art and image making. Through discussion, demonstration and hands-on practice, you will learn to operate digital cameras and to use them as precise tools for image capture. Discussions will include the camera, equipment options available to digital photographers, and how to establish a digital workflow. As you develop technical and aesthetic skills, you will explore shooting techniques, composition and framing plus the basics of light control. Other topics may include image management, using camera RAW, adjustment and editing in Photoshop and printing digital images. Whether your interest is in fine art or simply in making the move from film to digital photography, this course will provide a solid foundation.
Course Goals, Objective, and Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this course, students will have a broad technical understanding of how to make an excellent photograph with a digital SLR camera.
Students will have the necessary skills to continue to work independently and/or proceed to advanced level photography classes if they choose to do so.
