Language Placement Exams
Placement exams will be given at the beginning of the semester. It is very difficult for us to reschedule exams.
The following faculty administers these exams:
- Arabic: Rana Abdul-Aziz
- Chinese: Mingquan Wang
- Japanese: Kiyomi Kagawa
- Hebrew: Hedda Harari-Spencer
- German: Saskia Stoessel
- Russian: Marina Aptekman
Language Requirement
If you would like to place out of the language requirement (e.g. if you attended high school abroad),
please contact your Academic Dean.
Low Enrollment Policy
Please note that Tufts has instituted a low-enrollment policy which
means that classes with an enrollment of fewer than six students may
have to be cancelled. In that case, the Department will make every
effort to suggest an alternative section or course.
