Application Information

Students interested in joining the Soft Material Robotics IGERT program must complete two applications, as follows:

  • Submit an online Tufts Graduate School application (deadlines vary from December 15, 2015 to January 15, 2016).
  • Download and complete the separate IGERT application form, and submit it by February 1, 2016 to:

Students accepted as Participants in the program will join one of the Research Mentoring Teams, and will be expected to attend Neuromechanics and Bioengineering Boot Camp and Life Skills Seminars. IGERT students are also eligible to take part in the Innovation Challenge and to apply for International Research Opportunities. IGERT Fellowships are available to students of exceptional ability and high academic distinction; these Fellowships provide up to 2 years of full stipend support.

To be eligible for these Fellowships,

  • you must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., its territories or its possessions, AND
  • you must also apply, or already be accepted in, the PhD program in one of the following departments:

Biomedical Engineering
Chemical & Biological Engineering
Civil & Environmental Engineering
Computer Science
Electrical & Computer Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
