Formation of the Solar System

. Unformed planets circle a nascent star, our Sun, before its nuclear fires burst forth. According to the nebular hypothesis, the Sun and planets were formed at the same time during the collapse of an interstellar cloud of gas and dust that is called the solar nebula.
