Undergraduate Program

Degree Requirements: Biotechnology

Biotechnology has applications in a number of diverse fields, including recent growth in gene and cell therapies, protein and tissue engineering, bioprocessing, bioinformatics and synthetic biology. The tools of biotechnology are now universally applied both to basic research efforts and to large-scale manufacturing processes, and the field is continuing to grow at a rapid pace.

Second Major in Biotechnology (Science Track)

This program is offered as a major only in conjunction with enrollment in a regular undergraduate major, ordinarily excluding interdisciplinary programs.

The Biotechnology Second Major consists of 10 courses, specified as follows:

  • Biotechnology Second Major: No more than half the courses used to fulfill the requirements for one concentration may be used to satisfy the requirements for a second major.
  • Minor in Biotechnology Minor: All courses must be taken for a letter grade (i.e. courses cannot be taken Pass/Fail).
