PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
MEDFORD -- After winning two events at the 2009 outdoor season-opening Snowflake
Classic at home, sophomore Stephanie McNamara (North Attleborough, MA/North
Attleborough) of the Tufts University women's track & field team was named Track
Performer of the Week by the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
She is the first recipient of the honor this season.
In her first competition since helping the Tufts University women's indoor team
win the distance medley relay national title on March 13,
McNamara took home top honors in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:37.35 and
then came back to win the 800-meter race in 2:19.85. The 1,500 time was an NCAA
provisional qualifier and led her to a victory margin of over 16 seconds.
McNamara also posted a split of 60.0 in the 4x400-meter relay, in which Tufts
finished fourth at the meet.
Tufts scored 149.5 points and was second out of 16 teams at Ellis Oval/Dussault
Track.
