NINE JUMBOS PRODUCE ALL-NESCAC PERFORMANCES AT
CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
MEDFORD -- Nine members of the Tufts University women's
outdoor track & field team placed among the top three in the individual
and/or relay events at the 2008 New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) Championships hosted by Hamilton College last
Saturday (Apr. 26). Their top-three placements earn each Jumbo All-NESCAC
honors.
Sophomore Logan Crane (Portland, ME) earned four
All-Conference awards by winning the long jump (5.32m) and 100 meter
dash (12.32 seconds), and with runner-up efforts in the 200 meter dash
(25.52) and as part of the 4x100 meter relay (49.04).
Two Jumbos collected All-NESCAC recognition in two events.
Senior Jenna Weir (New York, NY) was second in both the 4x100 and in
the long jump (5.16m). Sophomore Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA) was also a
part of the 4x1 and was third individually in the 100 meter hurdles (15.91).
Tufts competitors garnering All-NESCAC awards in for
second-place finishes in an event were
senior co-captain Cat Beck (Brookline, NH) in the 800 meters
(2:15.03), first-year Andrea Caruth (Vauxhall, NJ) in the
400-meter hurdles (1:04.59), senior co-captain Kaleigh Fitzpatrick
(Lynnfield, MA) with the 4x100 relay. First-year Kanku Kabongo
(Abington, MA) in the triple jump (11.14m), senior Katy O'Brien
(North Easton, MA) in the 1,500 meters (4:36.22) and senior Joyce
Uang (Medford, MA) in the high jump (1.55m) were honored for their
third-place efforts.
Coach Kristen Morwick's Tufts team placed second at the NESCAC meet scoring 120
points as a team.
