HART NAMED TO D3HOOPS.COM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION TEAM

D3Hoops.com Preseason All-American Colleen Hart

MEDFORD -- Junior point guard Colleen Hart (Needham, MA/Needham) of the Tufts University women's basketball team was voted to the D3Hoops.com Preseason All-America Honorable Mention Team, it was announced today.

Hart is one of two players in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) to be named as a Preseason All-American, and one of four New England Division III players. Five teams and 25 players were recognized overall. This marks the third season that Hart has been recognized by D3Hoops.com. She was an All-Northeast Region Third Team selection for the 2008-09 season and the regional Rookie of the Year for 2007-08.

Last season, Hart averaged 12 points per game with a team-best 53 three-pointers on 150 attempts (35.3 percent). With 115 assists (4.3 per game) and 70 turnovers in 27 games, she had an excellent 1.64 assists to turnovers ratio. She hit 34 of 41 free throws for a 82.9 percentage and led Tufts with 49 steals. She also had 4.2 rebounds per game as a 5'4" guard.

Coach Carla Berube's Tufts team earned its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Hart led Tufts with 16 points in their 80-70 first-round win at Moravian.

An All-NESCAC First Teamer last year, Hart was the conference's Rookie of the Year and a Second Team pick in 2007-08. Last season, she was among the conference's top 10 in assists, steals, three-point percentage, three-point field goals and turnovers/assists ratio. Hart is also an 85.6-percent free throw shooter (95/111) for her career).

The Jumbos open the 2009-10 season at SUNY-New Paltz on Friday, November 20.
