OF NESCAC CHAMPIONSHIP ON SATURDAY

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University women's basketball team will host
Bowdoin College in the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC
Championships on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20) at Cousens Gymnasium.
Tip-off is at 3:00 pm. The Jumbos (20-4) are the #4 seed in the
tournament and the Polar Bears (19-5) are the fifth seed. Tufts was
6-3 during the conference season, while Bowdoin was 4-5. Tufts took
a 52-40 victory at home against Bowdoin on January 23.
This is the third time that Tufts and Bowdon have met in the
NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears won both games, in the first
round of 2006 (52-41) and in the finals of 2007 (64-48). The
Jumbos have advanced to the last three conference "final fours" and
also played in the title game in 2008, losing to Amherst (59-53). Tufts
is 4-8 overall since the NESCAC Tournament started in 2001, but the
Jumbos are 4-3 since 2007.
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the semi-finals ond
Saturday, February 27 at the site of the highest remaining seed. The
conference championship game is schedule for Sunday, February 28 at
noon.
