MEDFORD
-- Capping a season in which she led the New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in scoring and was one of the best
three-point shooters in the country, junior guard Colleen Hart
(Needham, MA) of the Tufts University women's basketball team
was named to the 2010 D3Hoops All-America Fourth Team on Saturday.
Hart is one of five players from New England to be named an
All-American by D3Hoops.com. She is believed to be the first
All-American in Tufts women's basketball history. With a 17.3 points
per game scoring average, Hart helped lead Coach Carla Berube's
Jumbos to their third consecutive season with 20+ wins and NCAA
Tournament berths. She averaged 27 points in the team's two NCAA
Tournament games. Hart scored 24 or more points five times overall,
including 31 at SUNY New Paltz on November 20.
From three-point range, Hart hit 83 of 176 shots for an excellent
.472 success rate. In the NCAA second round, she made eight of her
10 three-point attempts at Kean University. She also had six three
pointers twice, at SUNY New Paltz and at Middlebury on January 16.
Hart also led the Jumbos with 2.4 assists per game, and in minutes
with 35.7 per game. During the season she surpassed the 1,000 career
points milestone and became the Jumbo program's all-time leader in
three-pointers (192). Tufts finished 2009-10 with a 21-6 record.
