LOVE NAMED NESCAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MEDFORD – Junior forward Allison Love (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) of the Tufts University Women's Basketball team has been selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference's (NESCAC) Co-Player of the Week for games through December 7. Love averaged 18.0 points on 61.5 percent shooting (16/26) in wins over Babson, 79-57, and Gordon, 91-58.

On Tuesday, Love scored 12 points while tying for the team-high with eight rebounds against the Engineers. She also added two assists, two blocks and two steals while connecting on both of her three-point attempts. Against Gordon, Love was the game-high scorer with 24 points, hitting 11 of her 15 shots. Five of her six rebounds came at the offensive end and she also led the Jumbos with four steals.

For the week, in addition to her 18.0 scoring average, she had 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists. The team's game at MIT on Saturday was postponed. Love shares this week's Player of the Week award with Wesleyan sophomore Hannah Stubbs.

Including a 67-44 loss to Southern Maine on Monday night (Dec. 8), Love leads Tufts in scoring with 14.7 points per game. She's shooting 54 percent from the floor (34/63), including five of six on three-point field goals. Second on the Jumbos with 6.7 rebounds per game, she also owns the team's best free throw percentage at 83.3 (15/18). She has started all six games and is averaging 23.3 minutes per game.

Head Coach Carla Berube's Jumbos reached the semester break with a 4-2 record. The season resumes on Saturday, January 10 at Fitchburg State College.
