AMHERST -- With the NESCAC Tournament approaching, the Tufts University volleyball team improved to 2-3 in the conference and 10-11 overall with a 3-0 NESCAC victory over Trinity College on Friday night at Amherst. The game scores were 30-28, 30-28 and 30-21.

Tufts now sits sixth in the league. The top eight teams will play for the conference tournament title beginning on November 2. The win is the second straight overall for Tufts. Trinity fell to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.

The Jumbos spread the offense around behind sophomore setter Dena Feiger (Long Grove, IL), who finished with 35 assists. Senior captain Katie Wysham (Spokane, WA) recorded 11 kills, first-year Dawson Joyce-Mendive (Minden, NV) had 10 and sophomore Brogie Helgeson (Santa Cruz, CA) posted eight. On the defensive side, three Jumbos topped 20 digs. Juniors Natalie Goldstein (Piedmont, CA) and Maya Ripecky (Chicago, IL) had 24 and 23 digs, respectively. Classmate Stacy Filocco (Olney, MD) was credited with 22 digs.

Senior Katie Lenz (Cheshire, Conn.) totaled 28 digs to lead Trinity College. Bantam sophomore Molly Ullman (Studio City, Calif.) added a team-high 13 kills, while junior Lisa Esposito (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) had nine kills and four blocks, and senior setter Emily Moore (Winfield, Ill.) notched 36 assists.'

Tufts continues NESCAC action on Saturday when they face Wesleyan University at Amherst with a noon start.
