MEDFORD -- The Tufts volleyball team picked up its first NESCAC victory of the season in four games against Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon at Cousens Gymnasium. Leading the Jumbos with 15 kills and only one error in 25 attempts was senior captain Katie Wysham (Spokane, WA).

Tufts took the first two games 30-22 and 30-16 before stumbling 30-24 in game three. They won the match with a 30-21 final in the fourth game. The Jumbos improved to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the league. Hamilton is now 0-7 overall and 0-3 in NESCAC.

Two other Jumbos joined Wysham with double-figures in kills. First-year Dawson Joyce-Mendive (Minden, NV) had 14 and sophomore Brogie Helgeson (Santa Cruz, CA) had 13. Mendive and junior setter Kaitlin O'Reilly (Manhattan Beach, CA) both served up three aces apiece. Joyce-Mendive was also a leader on defense with 22 digs, while Wysham went up for two solo blocks and an assist and junior Kate Denniston (Tarzana, CA) recorded three block assists.

Hamilton's effort on offense was led by 25 assists from first-year setter Kelsey Lawler (Irvine, CA) and 11 kills from first-year Joanna Fier (Armonk, NY). Junior Amber O'Connor (Pembroke, ONT) had 14 digs for the defense, while 6'2� first-year Jori Belkin (St. Paul, MN) had two solo blocks and a block assist at the net.
