DEDHAM -- Senior co-captain
Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA) and junior Amy Wilfert (Westborugh, MA)
of the Tufts University women's outdoor track & field team both
submitted NCAA provisional qualifying times in their events at the
2010 All-New England Championships hosted by Northeastern University
on Thursday through Saturday.
In the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles, Ferri ran a time of
1:03.86 that was within the 1:04.20 NCAA standard. She went on to finish
eighth in the finals and score a point for the Jumbos with a 1:05.34
time. Wilfert improved her qualifying mark in the 1,500 meters with a
4:37.56 time, which was 0.57 faster than her previous qualifying time.
Sophomore Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) and first
year Kelly Allen (Norton, MA) both had third-place finishes
to add to Tufts' fine
performance at the All-New England meet. Jones had a best distance of 38' 3 1/2" (11.67m) in the triple jump
to score six points. Allen was third in the discus, launching a 141'11"
(43.25m) toss that scored six points. Both distances were NCAA
provisional qualifiers, though both Jumbos have better marks from
earlier in the season.
Tufts scored nine points in the 10,000 meters. First year Lilly
Fisher (Kansas City, MO) ran 39:04.30 for five fourth-place points.
She was trailed by sophomore Sadie Lansdale (Bethesda, MD) in
fifth place (four points), finishing in 39:44.22.
By scoring 22 points, Tufts placed 14th at the meet.
