Junior Kelly Engelking was tops in the
javelin throw at MIT

CAMBRIDGE -- The Tufts University women's outdoor track & field
team competed at the MIT Spring Invitational on Saturday in the
final meet before the beginning of the championship season next
weekend. The Jumbos earned eight victories on Saturday, including
five in the field events.
Tufts dominated the field events, in which a few consisted of short
fields. Senior Logan Crane (Portland, ME), who also won the 100
meters in 12.93 seconds, was first in the long jump at 15'11" (4.85m).
She led a field of 15 in the 100.
Junior Kelly Engelking's (Westborough, MA) 108'5" (33.05m)
javelin throw was first out of eight at the meet. First year Kelly
Allen (Norton, MA) was a double winner, with the best performances
in the discus throw (132'6"/40.38m) and in the shot put (39'5"/12.01m).
In the triple jump, Tufts junior Kanku Kabongo (Abington, MA) was
first at a 35'2 1/2" (10.73m) length.
The Jumbos were also at the front of two three-team relays. The 4x100
group of senior co-captain Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA), sophomore
Dayorsha Collins (Boston, MA), Kabongo, and Crane ran 50.64
seconds. Ferri then anchored the 4x400 relay with sophomore Kayley
Pettoruto (Andover, MA), first year Sam Bissonnette (Bridgewater,
MA), and sophomore Sarah Boudreau (Sherborn, MA) that went
4:10.38 to win.
Tufts University's Dussault Track is the site of the 2010 NESCAC
Championships next Saturday (Apr. 24).
