Meet Results

WESTFIELD -- Six members of the Tufts University women's track & field team competed at Westfield State College's Jerry Gravel Classic on Saturday. The Jumbos won two events, junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) in the 1,500 meters and first year thrower Kelly Allen (Norton, MA) in the discus.

In the first scored meet of the outdoor season, Tufts placed sixth out of 18 teams by scoring 44 points. Twenty total points came from the two winners. Wilfert ran 4:44.97 in the 1,500 meters, winning by nearly four seconds. Allen's best discus toss of 134'8" (41.04m) won by a foot. Allen had three top-five finishes overall, also taking third in the shot put (38'3 1/2"/11.67m) and fifth in the hammer throw (126'1"/38.44m).

Junior Kanku Kabongo (Abington, MA) also scored third in the long jump, with a best effort of 15'3 1/4" (4.65m). Senior Julia Feltus (Reading, MA) was right behind Allen in the shot put for fourth place, helping the Jumbos score 11 points in the event with a 37'1 1/4" (11.51m) toss.

Tufts hosts the annual Snowflake Classic next Saturday in Somerville.
