Meet Results
Kayley Pettoruto led off a 4x4 that was less than a second off the NCAA provisional mark

BOSTON -- Several members of the Tufts University women's indoor track & field team competed at the massive Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday. Sophomore Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) provided the top Tufts performance in the triple jump.

Jones, who entered the week ranked second among all NCAA Div. III competitors in the triple jump with her 38'2" (11.63m) effort at BU on January 29, went 39'1 1/4" (11.92m) on Friday at BU. That would be the best mark in Division III depending on other results from this weekend. She was third out of 20 entrants at the competitive Valentine meet.

The Jumbos were near the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks in three other events. The 4x400 meter relay foursome of sophomore Kayley Pettoruto (Andover, MA), junior Andrea Caruth (Vauxhall, NJ), junior Kaylee Maykranz (Jackson, WY), and senior co-captain Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA) finished in 4:00.96, less than a second off the NCAA time of 4:00 flat. They were 15th out of 35 at the meet.

Caruth's finish of 59.30 seconds in the 400 meters was 0.66 behind the national provision mark of 58.64 seconds. Her run was 35th among 145 in that race. Senior Logan Crane (Portland, ME) continued to hover around the NCAA 55 dash mark of 7.29 seconds with her time of 7.45 seconds at BU. She did not qualify for the final and placed 23rd out of 70. Her 26.10 time in the 200 meters was a half-second off the Tufts record, good for 35th in a huge field of 158.

The distance medley relay is the only women's event remaining to be held on Saturday. Coach Kristen Morwick's team will also compete at the MIT Invitational on Saturday.
