MEDFORD -- Senior co-captain Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA) of the Tufts women's indoor track & field team won the pentathlon event and hit the NCAA provisional mark at the Gantcher Center on Friday night to kick off the Tufts Invitational II. The meet, the last of the season at home, was non-scoring.

With a final total of 3,023 points, Ferri topped the national provisional standard of 3,000 points. Of the five events, she won the shot put with 32'11" (10.03m) distance and was second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.68 seconds) and in the 800 meter dash (2:28.95). Sophomore Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) was second in the pentathlon with 2,915 points.

The Tufts throwing combo of senior Julia Feltus (Reading, MA) and first-year Kelly Allen (Norton, MA) had another good meet. Feltus won the weight throw with a big personal-best of 44'5" (13.55m). Allen topped 40-feet in the shot put for the first time, winning with a 40'6" (12.36m) launch.

Tufts won five events overall at the meet. Senior Logan Crane's (Portland, ME) 55-meter dash times of 7.49 seconds in the preliminaries and 7.5 in the finals were the fastest. She was also second in the long jump, reaching 16'9" (5.11m).

Sophomore Heather Theiss (North Woodmere, NY) led a 1-2-3 finish for Tufts in the pole vault by clearing 10'6" (3.2m).

Other Jumbo runner-ups with career-best performances were first-year Lilly Fisher (Kansas City, MO) with a 19:08.47 5K and junior Rosanna Xia (Acton, MA) with a 34'4" (10.47m) triple jump.

The 4x200 relay of first year Sandra Peprah (Newark, NJ), Theiss, senior co-captain Kerry Virgien (Los Angeles, CA), and Ferri put down a 1:53.49 time that was second at the meet. They were less than two-tenths of a second behind race winners Ithaca.

Coach Kristen Morwick's team is in action twice next weekend. The annual Valentine Invitational at BU is on Friday and an invitational at MIT is on Saturday. The championship meets begin the follow week.
