Julia Feltus won the weight throw and was
second in the shot put at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Me. -- Senior Julia Feltus (Reading, MA) and
first-year Kelly Allen (Norton, MA) combined to score 36 points
in the shot put and weight throw events, leading the Tufts women's
indoor track & field team at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday.
Tufts placed third out of four teams, scoring 112.5 points. MIT won
the meet with a 210.5 score, followed by the host Polar Bears with 159
points.
In the shot put, Allen was first and Feltus was second with distances
of 39'2 1/4" (11.95m) and 36'7 1/2" (11.16m), respectively. They
switched spots in the weight throw, with Feltus winning at 43'4 1/4"
(13.21m) and Allen taking runner-up with a 39'11 1/2" (12.18m) toss.
Coach Kristen Morwick's Jumbos won three events overall. Senior
Logan Crane (Portland, ME) was first in the 55-meter dash with a
time of 7.61 seconds. She had run a time of 7.51 seconds to win the
preliminaries.
Like Crane, sophomore Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) was
competing for the second straight day. Both were at the Boston
University Terrier Invitational on Friday. Jones improved her NCAA
provisional mark in the triple jump at BU. At Bowdoin, she was second in
the high jump with clearance of 4'11 3/4" (1.52m).
Tufts hosts its second invitational of the 2009-10 season at the
Gantcher Center next weekend (Feb. 5-6).
