BOSTON -- A handful of competitors from the Tufts University women's
indoor track & field team were at the annual Boston University Terrier
Invitational on Friday afternoon. It was a non-scoring meet.
For the third time in as many weeks, sophomore Nakeisha Jones
(Boston, MA) improved her national qualifying mark in the triple
jump. Her best effort of 38'2" (11.63m) on Friday bettered last week's
38'0 3/4" (11.6m), which was the best distance in the nation. Jones
placed fourth at the meet, which featured collegiate participants from
all divisions and other post-graduates.
Coach Kristen Morwick's Jumbo squad had two top 10 finishes at the
meet. Along with Jones, junior Andrea Caruth (Vauxhall, NJ) was
ninth in the 500 meters (1:18.88).
Junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) finished the 5,000 meter
run with a 17:57.18 time, taking 17th place out of 44. Tufts had two
entrants in the 200 meter dash. Senior co-captain Andrea Ferri
(Dracut, MA) ran 26.33 seconds for 31st place. Teammate Logan
Crane (Portland, ME) finished in 26.80 seconds for 43rd place among
a field of 79.
The Jumbos continue their weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational on
Saturday.
