Meet Results
Junior miler Amy Wilfert was one of five Tufts winners at Wheaton
 

NORTON -- Competing at the 10-team Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, the Tufts women's indoor track & field team placed second in a talented field by scoring 103 points. NESCAC rival Williams College won the meet with 163.66 points, followed by Division II Stonehill (81) and the host Lyons (58).

Sophomore Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) improved upon her NCAA Championships provisional mark in the triple jump by winning the event with a distance of 11.6 meters at Wheaton. Her 11.41m mark set last week at home had been ranked fourth nationally. She was one of five Tufts winners at Wheaton.

Junior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) won the mile run by two seconds over Williams College's Jessica Clarke with a first-place 5:10.89 time. Sophomore Heather Theiss (North Woodmere, NY), the Jumbo record holder in the pole vault, posted her first win of the 2010 season by clearing 3.21 meters.

The Tufts throwers had a strong presence at the meet. First-year Kelly Allen (Norton, MA), competing in her hometown, won the shot put with her best heave of 11.5 meters. Senior Julia Feltus (Reading, MA) took second place in the weight throw (13.58m).

Coach Kristen Morwick's team also had a win the 4x400 meter relay with a 4:11.26 time.

The Jumbos will be busy next weekend, with action at the annual Boston University Terrier Classic on Friday afternoon and the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday.
