Senior Paula Dorman was sixth in the shot put in her final collegiate event

SPRINGFIELD -- A scaled down Tufts University women's outdoor track & field team participated in the 2009 ECAC Division 3 Outdoor Championships at Springfield College on Thursday and Friday, finishing 22nd with 10.5 points.

First-year Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) was the highest finisher for Tufts, placing third in the triple jump with a distance of 38'2 3/4" (11.65m). Heading into the weekend, she is ranked #1 in the event for the NCAA Championships next week with her 40'10 1/4" effort last week at UMass.

Senior tri-captain Paula Dorman (Brockton, MA), in the final meet of her career, scored sixth place for Tufts in the shot put with a 39'7 1/4" (12.07m) throw. First-year Dayorsha Collins (Boston, MA) tied for seventh in the high jump with 5'3 3/4" (1.62m) clearance.

Senior tri-captain Jackie Ferry (Studio City, CA) also competed for the last time in a Tufts uniform, running 2:20.94 in the 800 meters.

The NCAA Championships are next Thursday through Saturday (May 21-23) at Marietta College in Ohio. The full roster of Tufts' NCAA competitors will be released on Monday.
