Meet Results

BOSTON -- First-year Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) continued her excellent first season with the Tufts women's track & field team by recording the best triple jump in Division III so far this season at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University over the weekend.

In a meet featuring collegiate athletes from all levels and amateur competitors, Jones went 39'3 in the triple to place third overall among 31 entrants in the event. That mark surpassed the NCAA Championships' automatic qualifying standard of 38'6 . It's five and a half inches better than any other triple jump by a Div. III competitor this season.

In the mile run, Tufts sophomore Stephanie McNamara (North Attleborough, MA) placed 14th and sophomore Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) was 22nd out of 75 runners with times of 5:05.47 and 5:08.30, respectively. Tufts also had two fine performances in the pole vault, with first year Heather Theiss (Hewlett, NY) and sophomore Allison Fechter (Haddonfield, NJ) both clearing 10 feet to tie for 17th place.

Senior tri-captain Paula Dorman (Brockton, MA) was 16th in the shot put with a 37'5 best heave. First-year Dayorsha Collins (Boston, MA) had a 5'1 high jump to tie for 18th at the meet.

The Jumbos host their second invitational of the season at the Gantcher Center next Saturday (Jan. 31).
