BOSTON -- The Tufts women's indoor track & field team began the 2007-08
season on Saturday at the annual Husky Carnival hosted by Northeastern
University. Coach Kristen Morwick's team had a solid performance in the
meet featuring Division I, II, III and amateur competition. The top
Tufts finish was posted by senior co-captain Kaleigh Fitzpatrick
(Lynnfield, MA) in the 200 meters. Her time of 26.31 seconds was
good for seventh place. She was also part of an excellent early-season
time of 4:06.31 that was the top non-Division I time at the meet.
First-year Andrea Caruth (Vauxhall, NJ) ran the lead leg,
followed by sophomore Logan Crane (Portland, ME), junior
Jackie Ferry (Studio City, CA) and Fitzpatrick as the anchor. The
competition was non-scoring, but joining Fitzpatrick as Jumbos who would
have scored was senior Anna Shih (Pittsford, NY) in the 3,000
meters with a time of 10:45.51. Crane just missed qualifying for the
final in the 55 meter dash with a finish of 7.51 seconds for ninth place
overall. Tufts is off until it resumes the indoor season at the
Dartmouth Relays in early January.
