Meet Results
SOMERVILLE -- The Tufts women's outdoor track & field team opened the 2008
season in winter-like conditions at the annual Snowflake Classic at
Ellis Oval/Dussault Track on Saturday. With temperatures in the 30s and
a strong wind, Tufts scored 139.5 points and placed second out of 13 at
their home invitational.
Senior Cat Beck (Brookline, NH), competing in the final season of
an outstanding career at Tufts, led the way with an NCAA provisional
qualifying time of 4:37.81 in the 1,500 meters on Saturday. She won the
race and led a Tufts finish that included second-place Stephanie
McNamara (North Attleborough, MA) with a 4:48.01 time and
fourth-place Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) in 4:57.06.
Senior All-American Katy O'Brien (North Easton, MA) also earned a
victory on opening day, finishing the 800 meters in 2:17.09. McNamara
added a third-place effort in that race (2:21.23).
Runner-up performances were submitted by sophomore Logan Crane
(Portland, ME) in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.09 seconds
after winning the preliminaries in 12.85 seconds. Senior Kaleigh
Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) took second in the 200 meters at 27.22
seconds. The 4x4 opened with a second place time of 4:27.41. That group
was O'Brien, first-year Izzi Hirsch (Durham, CT), first-year
Jen Yih (Palo Alto, CA) and sophomore Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA).
First-year Rosanna Xia (Acton, MA) was also second in a small triple
jump field with 35' 1 3/4" distance (10.71m).
