MEDFORD -- Sophomore Logan Crane (Portland, ME) and senior
co-captain Cat Beck (Brookline, NH) both ran NCAA provisionally
qualifying times on Saturday at the third Tufts home invitational of the
season at the Gantcher Center. The meet was the last prior to the start
of the championship season.
Crane ran the preliminaries of the 55 meters in 7.31 seconds, getting
her within the 7.32 provisional mark for the NCAA. She then won the
final in 7.35 seconds. Beck, the versatile All-American, ran the 800 in
a 2:14.36 time that was well within the 2:16.90 provisional mark. She
has also qualified for Nationals in the mile and in the 5K, events in
which she has the second-fastest times in the country to date. In the
800 at Tufts on Saturday, Boston College's Caitlin Bailey ran 2:07.65 to
win the race ahead of Beck.
Stephanie McNamara (North Attleborough, MA) continued her fine
first campaign for Tufts with a second-place finish of 2:57.95 in the
1,000 meters.
Tufts will travel to Smith College next weekend for the New England
