Meet Results

MEDFORD -- Senior co-captain Cat Beck (Brookline, NH) ran 16:55.39 in the 5K on the banked track at Boston University Friday night, well within the NCAA Division III Championships automatic qualifying time even after it is converted. The automatic qualifying time is 17:10 flat. The converted time, which has not yet been released, typically adds four to five seconds. Beck's performance led the Jumbo women's indoor team amongst an outstanding field at the non-scoring BU Terrier Invitational.

Beck, a three-time NCAA qualifier indoors in the 5K, finished second at the BU meet behind Providence College's Danette Doetzel (16:26.25). Beck was fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the event last season with a 16:57.37 time.

If the BU meet was scored, Tufts would have got points from sophomore Logan Crane (Portland, ME) in the long jump. Her 16' 11 1/4" distance (5.16m) took eighth place. Coach Kristen Morwick's team also got a great performance in the throws from junior Paula Dormon (Brockton, MA), who was seventh in the weight throw (42' 1/2") and eighth in the shot put (38' 2 3/4").

First-year Kanku Kabongo (Abington, MA) was 10th in the triple jump with a 35' 1/4" mark (10.67m). Senior co-captain Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) was just outside the top 10 in the 400 meters with a finish of 59.36 seconds.
