Meet Results
HANOVER, N.H. -- Senior co-captain Catherine Beck (Brookline, NH)
defeated the field in the 3,000 meters at the Dartmouth Relays on Sunday
by almost 16 seconds, winning the race with a time of 9:56.91 to lead
the Tufts University women's indoor track & field team's performance at
the event.
Beck's win led the Jumbos to13th place overall out of 26 teams at the
competition. Coach Kristen Morwick's (a Dartmouth grad) team scored 15
points. Northeastern University took the top spot at 88.5 points,
followed by host Dartmouth at 49.25.
Senior co-captain Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) also had
a good performance, running 59.53 seconds for fifth place in the 400
meter dash. Sophomore Logan Crane (Portland, ME) advanced through
two heats to the finals of the 60 meter dash and finished sixth with a
time of 7.98 seconds. First-year jumper Kanku Kabongo (Abington, MA)
may have opened an eye or two with her 33 foot, 6 3/4 inch (10.23m)
effort for sixth place in the triple.
The Jumbos also scored in two relays, with the 4x200 group placing
sixth in 1:49.88 and the distance medley relay running 4:34.44 to place
eighth. The 4x2 featured junior Aubrey Wasser (Richmond, VT),
Crane, Kabongo and Fitzpatrick. The DMR was junior Amy Hopkins
(Williston, VT), junior Jackie Ferry (Studio City, CA),
first-year Kristen Brown (New York, NY) and senior Anna Shih
(Pittsford, NY).
Tufts hosts its first invitational of the indoor season on Saturday
(Jan. 19) at the Gantcher Center. Competition starts at 11:00 am.
