Results LOWELL -- Junior
Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) was a double winner, and Tufts
women's track & field athletes won five events overall at the 2007
George Davis Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts
Lowell on Saturday.
Fitzpatrick doubled in the 200 and 400 meters, winning
the former in 27.04 seconds and the latter in 60.68 seconds. First-year
Andrea Ferri (Dracut, MA) provided Tufts with a solid 1-2 finish
in the 200 with her 27.17 time.
The Jumbos won the 200, 400, 800 and 1,500 meters races
at the event. Junior Cat Beck (Brookline, NH) was first in the
800 meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2 minutes, 14.46
seconds. Senior tri-captain Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) won the
1,500 meters in a 4:52.68 time.
The Jumbos also got a victory in the hammer throw from
junior Sarah Martin (Woonsocket, RI), whose 135-foot best heave
was 21-feet longer than the second-place distance of 114' 8" by
Stonehill's Meghan Rocha.
The 4x400 relay of Ferri, Beck, Fitzpatrick and junior
Joyce Uang (Medford, MA) finished in 4:11.95 for a distance
second behind Wheaton College (3:59.6). First-year sprinter/jumper
Logan Crane (Portland, ME) had a good day, placing second in the 100
meters in 12.91 seconds and taking third in the long jump at 16' 3 3/4".
Junior Jenna Weir (New York, NY) was the runner with 35' 2"
length in the triple jump. Sophomore Paula Dormon (Brockton, MA)
was third in the shot put at 37' 10".
Tufts is at MIT next Saturday as the spring outdoor
season continues.
