NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Tufts University women's indoor track & field team did not score at the 2006 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships hosted by St. Olaf College during the weekend, but two Jumbo relays earned top 10 national finishes to highlight the trip.

The 4x400 meter relay had some bad luck and ran 4 minutes, 1.50 seconds for a 10th place finish. The crew of sophomore Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA), freshman Jackie Ferry (Studio City, CA), sophomore Joyce Uang (Medford, MA) and senior tri-captain Rachel Bloom (Sharon, MA) got nipped at the line. A fumbled baton hand-off in the middle of the race set the team back.

In the Distance Medley Relay, sophomore Katy O'Brien (North Easton, MA), freshman Aubrey Wasser (Richmond, VT), sophomore Cat Beck (Brookline, NH) and junior Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) also ran 10th with a 12:29.95 time.

Beck and O'Brien had both competed earlier in the meet. O'Brien, running Friday in the 800 meters qualifier, did not make the final with a 2:17.77 time. Beck ran 18:07.50 in the 5K for 13th place.

Beck was named the NCAA New England Regional Athlete of the Year at the meet. She broke new school records and qualified nationally in two events during the indoor season.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the team title with 44 points. NESCAC's Williams College was the runner-up with 38 points.
