DURHAM, NH -- The Tufts University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team scored 12 points to place in a tie for 18th at the 2005 Open New England Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire.

The 4x800 meter relay, the team's strongest event all season, ran 9 minutes, 22.34 seconds to take fourth place at the meet. The Jumbos were the highest scoring Division III foursome, and out-ran Division I competitors from Boston University and the University of Vermont.

The Jumbos also received a strong sixth place performance in the Discus Throw from senior Jessica Gauthier (Saugus, MA). Her throw of 126 feet, 10 inches added three point to the team total. Gauthier just missed scoring in the Shot Put, throwing 40-feet even for ninth place.

Seventh place efforts by senior tri-captain Emily Pfeil (Andover, MA) and sophomore Jenna Weir (New York, NY) completed the Jumbo scoring. Pfeil finished the 10,000 meters in 38:31.26 and Weir reached 17' 6" in the Long Jump.

Junior Rachel Bloom (Sharon, MA) also proved to be among the top 10 in all of New England collegiately with her time of 1:00.76 in the 400 meters.
