Meet Results

LEWISTON, Me. -- Depth throughout the event schedule helped the Tufts University Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team score 45 points to finish sixth at the New England Division III Championships at Bates College on Friday and Saturday. Wind and rain conditions hampered the meet, with Jumbo coach Kristen Morwick electing not to run the team in some events. Williams College won the meet with 198 points, more than twice that of second place Amherst's 82.5 points.

The sprints were hand-timed due to the weather, but Tufts faired decently. Sophomore Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) ran 2:19.4 in the 800 meters for fourth place and freshman Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) took fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.4 seconds to lead the way.

Tufts had three finishers among the top five in the jumps. Sika Henry (Upper Montclair, NJ) and Sade Campbell (El Cajon, CA) went 4-5 in the High Jump, with both clearing 5 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Freshman Mackenzie Rawcliffe (Winterport, ME) hit 34-10 1/4 in the Triple Jump for fifth place.

Senior Jessica Gauthier (Saugus, MA) scored in two of the throwing events. She spun the Discus 109-5 to take fifth place and heave the Shot Put 37-3 1/4 for seventh. Sophomore Maggie Clary (Grantham, NH) was fourth in the Heptathlon, scoring 3,381 points. She won the 800 meters portion of the multi-event with a time of 2:31.7.

The 4x8 relay that won the NESCAC title a week ago did not enter the race this week. The 4x100 added more relay points with a hand-held time of 52 seconds for fifth place.
