Meet Results
MEDFORD -- Led by junior Rachel Bloom (Sharon, MA), the Tufts University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team won seven events on Saturday when it hosted the first outdoor meet on the Tufts campus in five years. The Hillside Relays were the first meet at Tufts since the outdoor running track was resurfaced last summer.
Bloom had wins in the both the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes. She took the 100 over teammate
Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) 12.67 seconds to 12.70 seconds. She the outkicked Holy Cross's Meghan Carrette in the 200 with a winning time of 26.54 seconds. Fitzpatrick would pick up a victory of her own in the Triple Jump, posting a best jump of 36 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
Tufts took the top two spots in the 800 Meter Run with sophomore Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) winning in 2 minutes, 19.47 seconds. Senior captain
Katie Sheedy (Reading, MA) was runner-up in 2:22.65. Freshman Jenna Weir (New York, NY) added to Fitzpatrick's triple jump win by taking the Long Jump for the Jumbos in 16' 9 1/4". The team's success in the field events also included a Discus Throw victory from senior
Katie Antle (Cincinnati, OH). She unleashed a best throw of 116' 2" for the win.
The Jumbos were also winners in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.31 seconds.
