36th Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Tufts University Women's Indoor Track & Field team had a real solid outing this on Sunday at the 36th Dartmouth Relays. The event was held in the Leverone Field House, located at Dartmouth College, the alma mater of Jumbo head coach Kristen Morwick. Her team did the coach proud, earning 23 points and finishing in eighth place out of 29 teams.
Freshman Katy O'Brien (North Easton, MA) and sophomore Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) paced the Jumbos by scoring six points apiece, while junior
Katie Sheedy (Reading, MA) scored four points and freshman Kaleigh Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) also added one point for the Tufts total.
Crispin finished third out of 24 runners in the 800m Run, with a time of 2 minutes, 23.13 seconds. Sheedy finished right behind Crispin in fourth place with a time of 2:24.70 for a total of 10 Tufts points in the event. O'Brien took home third in the 1 Mile, with a time of 5:19.21. She finished only 6.31 seconds behind first place finisher Betsy Williamson of Division I Dartmouth College. Fitzpatrick finished in sixth place of the Triple Jump with a distance of 35-feet, 2 inches. The Jumbos also scored six points for their third place in the Distance Medley Relay, with Crispin, Makai, junior
Daniela Fairchild (Somerset, MA) and freshman Laura Walls (Clarksville, MD) posting a 12:53.55 time.
Sophomore Kate Makai (Brookfield, CT) finished just behind her two teammates, Crispin and Sheedy, in seventh place of the 800m Run, with a time of 2:25.41.
The Women's team is back in action this weekend as they, and the men, host the first Tufts Invitational on Saturday at the Gantcher Center. All the action begins at 11:00 AM.
