CAMBRIDGE -- The Tufts University Women's Track & Field team joined four teams from the state of Maine and the host MIT Engineers at Saturday's State of Maine meet. The Jumbos out-distanced the field in a big way, scoring 200 points to finish well ahead of second-place Colby College's 130 points.

Senior captain Lauren Caputo (Belmont, MA) won the 3,000 meter steeplechose in 11minutes, 14.62 seconds, a personal best by 20 seconds and a provisional qualifier for the NCAA championships. The time places her ninth on the national list. Sophomore Rachel Bloom (Sharon, MA) was a four-event winner (100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100 meter relay anchor, 4x400 meter relay anchor. She finished the 100 in 12.6 seconds and the 200 in 25.72, while the relays ran 50.14 and 4:12.14.

Other highlights included freshman Jill Warner (Long Valley, NJ) taking second in the 100 (12.97) and 200 (26.14), and running as part of the winning 4x1. Sophomore Megan Sears (Washington Depot, CT) threw a seven-foot personal best in the javelin at 109 feet, 10 inches to finish fourth. Caputo, Bloom, Warner and senior captain Emily Bersin (Orleans, MA), who ran the 400 hurdles 1:05.58, all qualified for the Division 1 New England's.

In winning the meet, for a second week in a row the Jumbos performed well as a team without All-American Jessica Trombly (Nashua, NH).
