Meet Results

MEDFORD -- In the first of four invitationals at the Gantcher Family Sports & Convocation Center on Saturday, the Tufts Women's Indoor Track & Field team was the dominant performer. Head Coach Kristen Morwick's women finished with 381.5 points, well ahead of second-place Keene State's 104 points. Six teams competed overall.

Senior captain Jessica Trombly (Nashua, NH) won three events: the 200 Meters (26.35 seconds), the 55 Meter Hurdles (8.7 seconds) and the Long Jump (5.00 meters). Senior Jess Gauthier (Saugus, MA) was also a multiple winner, taking the Shot Put with a best toss of 11.19 meters, and the Weight Throw with a 12.81-meter heave.

The senior class was very successful for the Jumbos. Joining Trombly and Gauthier as winners was senior captain Katie Higley (Raymond, ME) with a time of 1 minute, 2.83 seconds in the 400 meters. Senior captain Lauren Caputo (Belmont, MA) won the 1,000 Meters (3:09.13).

Perhaps the highlight of the meet was the national provisionally qualifying high jump of junior Sika Henry (Upper Montclair, NJ), who won with a leap of 1.66 meters (5 feet, 5 1/4 inches), the second-best all-time at Tufts.

Freshman Sarah Crispin (Auburn, ME) won the 1,500 Meters with a time of 4:54.37. The Jumbos also won all three relay events, but they faced limited competition - if any - in each race.
