Ali Maxwell tied the game for Tufts with her fourth goal

HARTFORD -- Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Weedon (Wellesley, MA) made 10 saves to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the Tufts University Jumbos in NESCAC women's soccer play today at Campus Field.

The Bantams improve to 9-4 on the season (4-4 NESCAC), while the Jumbos fall to 7-5 overall (4-4 NESCAC). Both teams have clinched spots in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament that starts a week from Sunday (Nov. 2)..

Just over four minutes into the game, Trinity senior Erika Maciaszczyk (Milton, MA) laid a perfect pass for first-year Jenny Ley (Warwick, RI), who scored her eighth goal of the season to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The game remained at 1-0 in favor of the Bantams until the second half, when Tufts junior Ali Maxwell (Exeter, NH) deflected a pass from teammate Whitney Hardy (Truckee, CA) to tie the game at 1-1.

Later in the second half, junior Caitlin Prendergast (Braintree, MA) scored on a header from a pass off the foot of sophomore Caroline Washburne (Medfield, MA), giving the Bantams the lead for good.

Tufts sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Jacobs (Mill Valley, CA) made four saves in the game for the Jumbos.

With two games remaining in its regular season, Tufts hosts its final home game of the year on Tuesday afternoon against Endicott College. The Bantams return to action at 3:00 on Friday in their regular-season finale.
