SOMERVILLE -- Junior Fanna Gamal (Albany, CA) netted the lone goal that the Tufts University Jumbos (7-4-0/4-3-0 NECAC) would need, her second of the season, as the Jumbos defeated the Wesleyan University Cardinals (6-4-1/2-4-1 NESCAC), 3-0, in a NESCAC Womens soccer match at Kraft Field on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Geneva DeGregorio (Whately, MA) started the play as she collected a loose ball, then made a pass to the middle in which junior Whitney Hardy (Truckee, CA) made a toe pass to the middle of the field. Gamal collected the Hardy pass and beat Wesleyan first-year keeper Clare Colton (Upper Montclair, NJ) with a shot to the lower left corner in the 20th minute of action.

Sophomore Bailey Morgan (Universal City, TX) increased the Tufts margin to 2-0 with her second of the season in the 40th minute of play, as she received a pass from freshman Alix Michael (Mercer Island, WA) and blasted a shot just under the cross bar.

Senior Maya Shoham (West Hartford, CT) ended the scoring in the contest as she netted her first of the season off a free kick off the foot of sophomore Sara Nolet (Los Altos, CA) in the 89th minute.

Tufts sophomore Hannah Jacobs (Mill Valley, CA) improved to 2-1-0 on the season in goal, making four saves on the afternoon, while Colton falls to 4-2-0 on the year, after making five saves for the Cardinals. The Jumbos out-shot Wesleyan by a 12-7 margin in the contest.

Tufts returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 25) as the Jumbos travel to Hartford, Conn. for a NESAC contest against Trinity College with kick-off set for noon. Wesleyan is also on the road on Saturday, as the Cardinals trek to Lewiston, Maine to take on Bates in a NESCAC match with kick-off set for 11:00 am.
