Sophomore Sarah Nolet had her second goal of the season

MEDFORD -- The Tufts University Jumbos used a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 decision over the Bates College Bobcats in NESCAC women's soccer action on Homecoming Day Saturday afternoon at Bello Field.

Freshman Jamie Love-Nichols (Cortez, CO) notched her first career goal in the first half in the 34th minute when she went one-on-one against the Bates keeper, dribbling by and slipping the ball into the net. The Jumbos used their strong defense to keep the Bobcats away from net, allowing just two shots by Bates, one of which was saved by junior starter Kate Minnehan (Hopkinton, NH).

The second half saw the Jumbos add an insurance tally on sophomore Sarah Nolet's (Los Altos, CA) second goal of the season, as she took a pass from freshman Alix Michael (Mercer Island, WA) and deposited the ball into the net in the 60th minute of play. Bates was not able to record a single shot in the second half.

The goalie combination of Minnehan and sophomore Hannah Jacobs (Mill Valley, CA) shut the Bobcats out, as the Jumbos have yet to let up a goal all season. Minnehan recorded the only save of the day for the Jumbos. Brittney French went all 90 minutes for the Bobcats in net, allowing both goals while making one save.

With the victory, the Jumbos are now a perfect 4-0-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in NESCAC play. Bates falls to 1-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the NESCAC. Tufts returns to action Tuesday afternoon at home in a non-conference tilt against Babson. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 pm at Kraft Field. Bates plays at Bowdoin on Wednesday.
