BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Tufts University scored three goals in the first half, including two in the opening 15 minutes, to claim a 3-1 victory over host Babson College in a non-conference women's soccer contest on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Jumbos, ranked 15th in the nation by the NSCAA, improve to 4-1-0 overall, while the Beavers slip to 6-2-0.

Tufts opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the contest, as senior Ariel Samuelson (Newton, MA) scored off a rebound of classmate Sarah Callaghan's (Northborough, MA) shot at 7:15. Callaghan then tallied her second assist of the day on the Jumbos' second goal, as her cross was headed in by sophomore Lauren Fedore (East Lansing, MI) at 14:25. The two connected similarly in a 3-1 Tufts win over Amherst on Saturday.

Babson cut its deficit in half late in the opening stanza, as sophomore Meg Lynch (Holden, MA) headed a free kick from sophomore Caitlin Cronin (Hanover, MA) past Tufts junior goalie Annie Ross (Newton, MA) at 39:03. However, the Jumbos came right back to score just 38 seconds later, as freshman Maya Shoham (West Hartford, CT) knocked in sophomore Joelle Emery's (Bedford, NH) rebound off the cross bar at 39:41 for her first collegiate goal. That would prove to be enough for the visitors, as Tufts held on for the 3-1 final.

Senior co-captain Marci McCormack (Wolcott, CT) finished with three saves in net for Babson.
