Game Statistics

FITCHBURG -- Behind senior co-captain Khalilah Ummah's (Litchfield, ME) double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds), #17 Tufts University never trailed Saturday afternoon in remaining undefeated with a 62-47 victory over host Fitchburg State College in non-conference women's basketball action at Fitchburg State College's Recreation Center.

The Jumbos (10-0) got a huge game from Ummah, who dominated the paint with six offensive rebounds. She also picked up a pair of assists, added four steals and had a block in the victory. Junior Kim Moynihan (West Hartford, CT) led Tufts with 14 points to go along with three steals and two assists. Fellow guard Colleen Hart (Needham, MA) was the only other Jumbo in double figures, scoring 13 points while dishing out two helpers and picking up a pair of steals.

The Falcons (5-3) got a game-high 17 from Diana Doyle (Springfield, MA), who also added five steals and six rebounds. Michelle Ridge (Milton, MA) was the only other Falcon in double figures with 10 points, two steals and three rebounds.

Tufts relied on its tenacious defense and forced 32 FSC turnovers, but the Jumbos committed 23 turnovers. After the visitors opened up a 21-12 cushion, the Falcons clawed their way back into the contest and trailed 27-26 at the break. Tufts would finally break away when a Hart three with 12:55 to play in regulation sparked an 8-0 run that helped seal the victory.

Jumbos' center Katie Tausanovitch (Lyme, NH) put home nine points and grabbed eight boards while Julia Baily (Farmington, CT) added seven points and five rebounds in the win.

FSC received six points from Steph Payette (Townsend, MA), Kim Duprey (Bernardston, MA) and Merry Donovan (Milton, MA), who grabbed seven rebounds as well.
