PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Tufts University women's basketball team posted a 57-point, 82-25 decision against Johnson & Wales in a non-conference contest at the Harborside Recreation and Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.
Leading the way for Tufts was sophomore Laura Jasinski (Leverett, MA), who notched 12 points and added five rebounds and two steals while junior guard Jessica Powers (Massapequa, NY) and freshman Khalilah Ummah (Litchfield, ME) also had 12 points in the win for the Jumbos. Once again the Jumbos were able to play everybody as only Jasinski had 20 minutes played, while everyone else had at least 11.
The Wildcats were led by junior Dawn Knowles (Dexter, NY), who tallied five points and added a game-high 11 rebounds while freshman Nicole Laferriere (Windham, NH) notched five points and added two rebounds and two steals in the loss for Johnson & Wales.
The Jumbos shot 43.9% from the field and held Johnson & Wales to just 15.7% from the floor with 36 turnovers.
The Wildcats were just 2 for 22 in the first half when Tufts built a 48-10 lead.
Tufts improves to 3-0 on the year, while with the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 0-3 on the season.
