NORTHAMPTON -- The Tufts University Women's Basketball never trailed on its way to posting a 68-60 victory at Smith College in non-conference action on Tuesday. The Jumbos led by as many as 17 points in the second half before the Pioneers were able to cut the final margin to eight.

Sophomore guard Jessica Powers (Massapequa, NY) and senior tri-captain Kate Gluckman (Morrisville, VT) led the Jumbos with 14 points apiece. Junior Allison Love (Duxbury, MA) had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds as Tufts improved to 10-4 overall. Smith (7-8) was led by 23 points by Dasen Woitkowski.

Smith was able to narrow the gap down to eight at the half, 37-29, closing with an 11-5 run sparked by Woitkowski's eight points.

The Pioneers were trailing only 47-41 following a lay-up by Shelley Harrison at 14:15 before the Jumbos were able to put some distance between them and their opponent. A 13-2 spurt gave Tufts a 17-point lead at 60-43 on a three-pointer by freshman Jenny Muller (Andover, MA) at 9:15. The margin remained healthy until the final minute. Smith was able to pull within six, 66-60, on a lay-up by Hillary Hightower with 24 seconds on the clock, but two free throws by Christoudias at 0:12 capped the win for Tufts.
