FITCHBURG -- Sophomore guard Jessica Powers (Massapequa, NY) scored 20 points to lead the Tufts University Women's Basketball team to a 64-53 victory over the Fitchburg College State Falcons on Saturday afternoon. Tufts (5-2) successfully started its second semester of play with the victory, ending a six-game winning streak by the Falcons (7-2).

Tufts led 39-23 at the half. Their pressure defense forced the Falcons into 35 turnovers for the game. Powers, who was the only Jumbo to score in double-figures, also had six rebounds and four steals. Senior tri-captain Kate Gluckman (Morrisville, VT) finished with seven points and seven rebounds. The Jumbos were just 10 for 20 from the free throw line, or the margin of victory could have been larger.

Fitchburg was led by 12 points apiece from Jen Fontaine - who also had 10 rebounds and eight assists - and Samantha Sweeney.
