WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The host Williams College women's basketball team opened up a 38-17 halftime lead and coasted to a 79-50 victory over Tufts University in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action on Friday night. The Ephs remained in a tie for first place in the league at 6-1 (16-5 overall), while Tufts fell to 1-5 (9-11).

The Jumbos turned the ball over 30 times against good Williams defense. Junior Melissa Skeffington and classmates Kate Stumpo and Abi Jackson each scored in double figures for the Ephs. Skeffington and Stumpo both dropped in 14, while Jackson scored a game high 18 points. Junior Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, MA) had 12 points for Tufts. Sophomore Erin Buckley (East Sandwich, MA) submitted one of her best games with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The loss is the third straight for Tufts, which had won the previous two games in the series against Williams. The Jumbos are fighting for one of the seven berths into the NESCAC tournament, and that quest continues on Saturday at Middlebury College.
