Wellesley, which won its second straight and improved to 6-4, led 29-25 at the half and outscored Tufts, 38-18, in the second half. The Jumbos, who were led by 20 points from junior Erin Harrington (Fall River, MA), lost their second in a row and fell to 5-4 overall.

Wellesley held Tufts to just five points in the first nine minutes of the second half and built a 12-point lead, 42-30, on a jumper by junior Christine Carbonello (Londonderry, NH) with 11:04 remaining. Wellesley's five starters all contributed points to that 13-5 run to open the second half that gave them a double-digit lead the rest of the way, led by Carbonello's five. The Jumbos shot just 23.3 percent from the floor (7/30) in the second half and 29.1 percent overall (16/55). Wellesley, on the other hand, was a hot 12 for 23 in the second half (52.5%) to finish at 44.0 (22/50). The visitors also posted a 42-34 advantage on the boards and a 19-6 margin at the free throw line.

After Wellesley bolted to an 8-0 lead, the first half was more tightly contested. The Jumbos surged to an 18-17 advantage on a jumper by senior Katie Kehrberger (Waldwick, NJ). After Wellesley responded with a layup by freshman Bridget Harris (Newbury Park, CA) at 5:25, they never trailed again.

Junior Kate Lyren (Wadsworth, OH) added 15 points, seven assists, and five rebounds to the Wellesley effort. Tufts junior Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY) posted a double-double with 10's in points and rebounds. This was Wellesley's fourth straight win in the series between the teams.
