BIDDEFORD, Me. -- Sophomore Missy Stults and senior Amanda Rodgerson combined to score 36 points, and the University of New England never trailed in a 63-46 victory over Tufts University on Monday night. The loss broke a four-game winning streak for the Jumbos, who returned to action after the semester break.
UNE took a 30-24 lead at intermission as Stults scored 12 of her game-high 19 points. The Nor'easters held a 20-11 edge on the boards in the opening frame and shot 50 percent from the floor. After the Jumbos scored the first six points of the second half to time the game at 30-30, UNE went on a 21-4 run over the next nine minutes to take a 51-34 lead with 9:13 remaining. The Jumbos shot just 24 percent from the floor in the second half.
Junior Erin Harrington (Fall River, MA) was the lone Jumbo in double figures with 11 points. The Nor'easters held leading scorer Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY) to just six points, nearly nine below her season average.
The Jumbos will look to get back on track when they host Wellesley College at Cousens Gym on Thursday (Jan. 10) at 7 pm.
