MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Host Middlebury College jumped out to an early 11-point lead and never
looked back while posting a 64-50 victory over Tufts University in a New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
The Panther never trailed in the game, surging to a 25-9 lead on a three-pointer by Elyse Carlson at 10:11 of the first half. Their lead would be double digits the rest of the way. Alexis Hollinger scored 18 points to lead Middlebury, which improved to 18-4 overall and 6-2 in NESCAC.
Tufts lost its fourth in a row overall and stands at 1-6 in NESCAC. Junior Erin Harrington (Fall River, MA) recorded a double-double for Tufts with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Middlebury. The Jumbos face a huge two games next weekend at Wesleyan and at Connecticut College. The Cardinals and Camels are two of the teams Tufts is competing with for a berth into the conference tournament. The top seven earn spots. The Jumbos are currently ninth.
