WORCESTER -- Clark University outscored Tufts University, 16-2, in the second overtime to
defeat the Jumbos, 76-62, in a non-conference women's basketball match-up on Tuesday
night. Senior Elissa Larrivee paced the Cougars with six points in the last overtime to
finish the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Tufts junior Emily Goodman (Briarcliff, NY) scored her 1,000th career point in the game. She entered the game with 999 points, and reached the mark with a top of the key jumper. She became the seventh woman in Tufts history to reach 1,000, and the first since Jodi Beach in 1995. She currently has 1,018 points.
Clark led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but the Jumbos fought back to tie the game on a lay-up by Goodman with two seconds left in the second half. Clark built a five-point lead in the first overtime, but a lay-up by freshman Krissy Nierenberg (Lebanon, NH) with four seconds to go tied the game dramatically for the second time. Clark took charge in the second overtime, scoring 14 straight points in the final four minutes.
Goodman finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior co-captain Jayme Busnengo (Buzzards Bay, MA) also reached double-digits with 10 points. Freshman Briana Freeman chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds for the 11-6 Cougars. The Jumbos dropped their second straight and stand at 7-7.
