WALTHAM -- Senior guard Jen Curran scored a game high 15 points and Brandeis University placed four starters in double figures in a 63-53 win over Tufts in women's college basketball action on Tuesday night.

Curran scored nine of her points in the first half to lead Brandeis to a 35-24 lead at the break. Freshman guard Erin Connolly (Syosset, NY) came off of the bench to score six points to pace the visiting Jumbos during the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, Brandeis ran off seven straight points to take a 42-26 lead on a basket by sophomore forward Jayne Wise with 17:12 left. During the run, Curran added a three pointer and Wise had four points. Tufts battled back and used a 12-2 run capped off by a pair of free throws by senior forward Jayme Busnengo (Buzzards Bay, MA) to cut the Brandeis lead to four, 52-48, with 3:43 left. Brandeis answered with its own 11-2 run capped off by a lay-up by sophomore center Danielle Fitzpatrick that made it 63-50 with 13 seconds left. Senior guard Lindsey Sensenbrenner led a balanced scoring attack in the decisive spurt, scoring four points.

Curran hit on six of her 12 shots from the field and also added four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sensenbrenner hit on six of eight from the line and finished with 12 points and also handed out a game high seven assists. Fitzpatrick hit on six of ten from the floor to add 12 points and seven rebounds. Wise was the fourth starter in double figures, chipping in with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Busnengo led the way for Tufts with 12 points, hitting on four of five shots. Junior forward Erin Harrington (Fall River, MA) was also was in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

The Jumbos, who have lost three of four this semester, look to straighten things out at MIT on Thursday night (Jan. 17).
